As to "interconnectedness," I like to ramble about in my imagination, thinking about the nonlocal thread in modern physics -- Bohm's implicate order? -- and the older traditions of sympathetic magic, and/or the notion of "as above, so below," and/or the legend wherein Adam had dominion over the other creatures because he knew their proper names ...
